Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou launched a furious post-match rant directed at Celtic supporters after his side suffered a dramatic 3–1 defeat at Celtic Park in a heated Scottish Premiership clash.
The visitors initially stunned the home crowd when E. Just opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, briefly silencing the stadium and giving Motherwell hope of pulling off a shock result away from home. However, the momentum quickly shifted just six minutes later when Hyeok-Jyu Yang equalised for Celtic in the 38th minute, sending the home crowd into full voice and completely changing the atmosphere of the game.
The tension escalated in the second half when Motherwell’s E. Longelo received a red card in the 71st minute, leaving the visitors with ten men during a crucial phase of the match. Celtic capitalised almost immediately on the numerical advantage, with Yang striking again in the 79th minute to restore the hosts’ control of the contest.
Before that decisive goal, Tomáš Čvančara had already put Celtic ahead from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, completing a ruthless turnaround that left Motherwell chasing the game with a depleted squad.
While the match itself provided plenty of drama, the biggest controversy came after the final whistle when Askou directed his anger toward the Celtic supporters. The Motherwell boss claimed the atmosphere and chants from the stands had a direct impact on the match and unsettled his players during key moments.
“WTF is that chant?” Askou said in a furious post-match interview. “I am making Celtic fans my sworn enemy today. That noise changed everything in the game. It completely shifted the momentum.”
The Danish coach suggested the intense environment made it difficult for his players to maintain their composure after going down to ten men, insisting the match might have unfolded differently under calmer circumstances.
Celtic, however, will simply focus on the result. The victory keeps them firmly in the title conversation and demonstrates once again their ability to respond under pressure in front of their home supporters.
