Hibernian manager David Gray did not hold back after a tense 0–0 draw against Rangers at Easter Road, turning his post-match interview into a pointed criticism of the away support following what he described as a “nonchalant chant” that disrupted his team’s plans during the game.

“If this continues, no club will ever respect Rangers again. There are lines in football that should not be crossed. What we heard today was not part of the sport. It’s unacceptable.”
The Hibs manager confirmed he had already raised the issue with match officials and intends to formally contact the SPFL for an investigation into the incident.
“I’ve asked for it to be looked into. We work hard all week on tactics, preparation, and mentality. Something like that happening in the middle of the game shouldn’t be ignored. It affects players, it affects the match, and it affects the integrity of the competition.”
Rangers players and staff declined to comment directly on Gray’s claims after the match, focusing instead on the result and their defensive discipline away from home.
Fans inside Easter Road appeared confused during the moment Gray referred to, with many in the home end gesturing toward the away section as the noise levels rose unexpectedly during a key spell of the game.
Despite the controversy, the draw leaves both sides with a point apiece in a match that will now be remembered less for its football and more for the storm brewing off the pitch.
Whether the SPFL decides to act remains to be seen, but David Gray’s explosive words have ensured the issue will not quietly fade away.
