Dundee United supporters turned their frustration into a viral moment on Saturday after directing a brutal chant toward Celtic winger Benjamin Nygren during Celtic’s shock 2–0 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice.

Goals from Will Ferry in the 51st minute and Emmanuel Agyei in the 66th sealed an impressive victory for the home side and left Celtic F.C. stunned after a performance that fell well below expectations.

However, much of the post-match conversation has centered not only on the result but also on a chant from the home supporters aimed directly at Nygren. Cameras inside the stadium captured Dundee United fans loudly singing “Leave football before it leaves you” after the Swedish attacker struggled throughout the match.

Nygren endured a difficult afternoon, misplacing several passes, losing possession repeatedly and failing to create meaningful chances for Celtic in the attacking third. His performance appeared to frustrate both travelling supporters and neutrals watching the game, but it was the Dundee United fans who made the moment unforgettable with their ruthless chant echoing around the stadium.

Several spectators were quick to record the chant on their phones, and the footage spread rapidly across social media platforms within minutes of the final whistle. Clips of the moment quickly began trending among Scottish football fans, with many debating whether the chant crossed the line or simply reflected the brutal nature of football rivalry.

Despite the noise from the stands, Dundee United remained focused on the pitch and executed their game plan perfectly. Ferry opened the scoring shortly after halftime with a composed finish before Agyei doubled the advantage fifteen minutes later, sending the home crowd into celebration and leaving Celtic chasing a game they never managed to recover.

For Celtic, the defeat raises fresh questions about consistency after another disappointing away performance. Nygren in particular will likely face scrutiny following the viral chant and his struggles during the match, though the club has not yet commented on the incident.

Meanwhile, Dundee United fans are celebrating both the victory and what has become one of the most talked-about chants of the Scottish football weekend.
