It’s been a quiet spring Transfer Portal window for Alabama football, but the Crimson Tide will host an official visit from a target who would fill a critical need.
It has been a quiet spring Transfer Portal window for Alabama football so far. The Crimson Tide hasn’t been interested in getting into bidding wars and Kalen DeBoer and company are comfortable with the projected starters for the 2025 season. They are, however, looking to fill some spots around the margins and improve depth at a couple of positions.
One of those positions is tight end, which by the end of spring practice, Alabama only had one healthy scholarship option. With Josh Cuevas, Danny Lewis Jr., and Marshall Pritchett all out, redshirt freshman Jay Lindsay was the last man standing.
Alabama will get reinforcements in the summer with 4-star TE Kaleb Edwards enrolling. But it was obvious after spring practice the Crimson Tide needed at least one more body in the room.
DeBoer and company have set their sights on Troy TE transfer Brody Dalton. Per AL.com, Dalton will be in Tuscaloosa on an official visit sometime soon.
Dalton is a Fyffe, Alabama native and spent the last two seasons at Troy after transferring there following his freshman season at UAB. Dalton caught 15 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Trojans.
Dalton would figure to be the in-line tight end the Crimson Tide is looking for and an obvious potential replacement for Robbie Ouzts. Ouzts never put up big statistics in Tuscaloosa, but he was a valuable part of the offense with his blocking ability.
