Joshua Buatsi has expressed interest in facing the winner of the highly anticipated rematch between Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron. The two light-heavyweight rivals are set to square off on April 20 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, following their controversial first encounter in October 2024.
In their initial bout, Cameron (23-6-1, 10 KOs) stunned the odds with a career-best performance against the unbeaten Whittaker (8-0-1, 5 KOs).
The fight ended in a technical draw after six rounds due to an incident where both fighters were sent tumbling over the top rope, with Whittaker leaving the arena in a wheelchair after suffering an ankle injury. Cameron, in turn, disputed the injury, calling Whittaker a “quitter” and accusing him of faking it.
The rematch is highly anticipated, as both men look to settle their score and prove their mettle. Despite Buatsi’s recent loss to Callum Smith in February, where he suffered his first professional defeat, he remains open to a showdown with the winner of Whittaker vs. Cameron 2. Buatsi, with a record of 19-1 (13 KOs), believes the outcome of the rematch will help clarify the situation and is keen to see how the two Brits perform.
Buatsi said, “I’m not hard to find… the most important thing is they’ve got a rematch. I won’t miss it. They get to square it, and we get to find out the truth.” The 32-year-old continues to look forward to future opportunities, refusing to rule out a potential clash with the winner.
