Kylian Mbappe’s Lawyers Freeze €55 Million in PSG Accounts Amid Legal Dispute Over Transfer

Kylian Mbappe’s legal team has taken decisive action in their ongoing battle with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), freezing €55 million in the club’s accounts as they seek to recover unpaid wages and bonuses owed to the French forward.

Mbappe believes PSG owes him the substantial sum, a claim which has sparked a lengthy legal dispute after he departed the club for Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer.

Mbappe’s agent argues that the amount remains unpaid despite efforts to resolve the issue amicably over the past year. The French football league’s governing body ruled in Mbappe’s favor last October, but PSG took the matter to court, citing a legal amendment to the contract.

Mbappe’s team, led by his lawyers Thomas Clay and Delphine Verheyden, has now appealed for assistance from UEFA and the French sports minister, while taking the extreme step of freezing the funds from PSG’s accounts in a Paris court.

PSG, however, has responded by questioning the legitimacy of the claims and suggesting Mbappe should resolve the matter through the Industrial Tribunal. The club insists that Mbappe, like any employee, should honor his public and private commitments, which included financial benefits during his seven-year tenure at the club.

The dispute dates back to Mbappe’s 2022 contract renewal, which reportedly involved significant financial concessions if he left the club on a free transfer. Since his move to Real Madrid, Mbappe has signed a lucrative contract, earning £13 million a year in basic wages, along with a massive £128 million signing-on fee, payable over five years.

Despite his success on the pitch with Real Madrid, including 32 goals and four assists in 47 appearances, Mbappe’s legal troubles with PSG continue to cast a shadow over his career.
