This opinion will not be a popular one, but it is a hard truth to this game. Before I get into it, I would like to pad the inevitable unpleasant slant.

The Lions are 6-1 for the first time since 1956!

Goff is playing “lights out” football and the records he is setting may never be broken!

The Lions scored had 6 offensive touchdowns scored by 6 different players!

Kalif Raymond was just 18 yards shy of getting the NFL record in returns!

The Lions are holding the top spot in the NfC!

Our Running Back duo is the best in football!

Our Safeties are the best in football!

Our Offensive Line is the best in the NFL! Which brings me to the unpopular thought…

Taylor Decker, on the first offensive play of the game allowed Key to run by him, barely touched, on his way to creaming Goff’s blind side. He continued to play poorly until he did a key block allowing Gibbs to run 70 yards for a Touchdown.

Decker also struggled last week against the Vikings.

I love Taylor Decker! He has been with us, contributing 110% in every game since before and during the rebuild. The sacks or loss of yards are nothing compared to losing Goff to an over excited DE trying to make a name for himself.

I absolutely understand that our coaches know Decker and have seen more from him than I have sitting in my Lazy-Boy, playing Monday Morning Quarterback.

How can this concern be addressed without disrupting the outstanding comradery and deflating morale?

I’m just very grateful that I can be the fan and leave extremely tough decisions up to the coaches.

I do believe, in this case, with this team, fans will feel the pain of losing a Taylor Decker much more than any normal NFL fan would. It is my extreme hope that Decker can keep Goff’s blind side protected long enough to bring Detroit their first Superbowl.
