Former Tottenham chairman Lord Alan Sugar has urged the club to consider appointing Jurgen Klopp as manager amid growing pressure on current head coach Thomas Frank following a heavy defeat by Nottingham Forest.
Spurs were beaten 3-0 at the City Ground on Sunday, a result that marked their third loss in five Premier League matches and left the north London club languishing in 11th place in the table. The performance prompted renewed criticism from supporters, with many questioning whether Frank remains the right man to lead the club forward.
Nottingham Forest dominated large periods of the contest, with Callum Hudson Odoi scoring twice and Ibrahim Sangare adding a third to cap a convincing victory. Tottenham struggled to impose themselves, particularly in the first half, and were second best in midfield and defence as Forest capitalised on a series of errors.

Lord Alan Sugar, who was a part-owner at Tottenham between 1991 and 2001, weighed in on the situation by suggesting the club should make a bold move for former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. Writing on social media platform X, Sugar argued that Spurs have the financial backing to pursue a high-profile appointment and should act decisively.
“With the massive fortune of the Lewis family it would be a win-win situation if they hired Jurgen Klopp in January,” Sugar wrote. “Loads of money for players and a great manager.”
Klopp has been without a club since stepping down from his role at Liverpool at the end of last season, bringing to a close a highly successful nine-year spell at Anfield. During his time on Merseyside, the German won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup, while also transforming Liverpool into one of Europe’s most consistent sides.
While there has been no indication from Tottenham that a managerial change is imminent, Sugar’s comments reflect the growing external pressure on the club’s hierarchy as results continue to fluctuate. Klopp’s proven track record at the highest level has led some supporters to view him as the type of elite appointment capable of lifting Spurs back into contention for major honours.
Thomas Frank, meanwhile, acknowledged his side’s poor performance against Forest and accepted responsibility for the defeat. Speaking after the match, the Dane admitted Tottenham had failed to meet the required standards.
“It’s hugely disappointing,” Frank said. “That was a bad performance, especially in the first half. After the first goal we looked disjointed, and after the second goal it was the same. We didn’t win enough duels and we gave the ball away far too easily.”
He added: “On paper it’s black and white. We lose 3-0 here and that is disappointing. The better team won today. When things go against us we have to keep doing the right things and keep our cool heads.”
Despite the mounting criticism, Frank has insisted he remains focused on addressing the team’s shortcomings and improving performances. However, Tottenham now face a crucial run of fixtures that could prove decisive for his future, with matches against top-half opposition looming.
