Trent Alexander-Arnold Set for Real Madrid Move as Contract Talks with Liverpool Stall

Trent Alexander-Arnold is edging closer to a move to Real Madrid, with the Liverpool defender’s contract set to expire on June 30. Negotiations between the Spanish giants and the England international are progressing, with Alexander-Arnold expressing his preference to join Real Madrid.

While Liverpool has not yet lost hope, as Alexander-Arnold has not pursued an improved contract with them, the defender’s decision seems to be leaning toward a summer departure. If he leaves, it will mark the end of his 21-year association with the club, where he is set to make his 350th appearance against Everton on April 2.

Real Madrid has long been an admirer of Alexander-Arnold and has been working on a package to lure him away for almost two years. As a free agent, Alexander-Arnold has had the opportunity to negotiate with any overseas club since January, and while discussions are ongoing, the deal is not finalized yet.

A move to Real Madrid would see Alexander-Arnold join fellow England international Jude Bellingham at the club, but it may not come without challenges. The deal is complicated by negotiations over signing-on fees, image rights, performance bonuses, and other contractual details.

Real Madrid’s interest in the right-back comes at a time when they are already stacked with attacking talent, but Alexander-Arnold would offer much-needed depth and flexibility in both defense and midfield.

Despite the complexities, Alexander-Arnold’s representatives are working toward a clean and amicable exit from Liverpool, a club he joined at age six. Although Real Madrid is keen, the situation remains fluid, and it’s unclear whether he will leave Anfield in the summer.
